Your Fund 妖精动漫 (YFS) delivering small community projects with a big impact

Since its launch in February 2023, the Your Fund 妖精动漫 Small Community Projects fund has been making a big impact in local communities. Over 630 projects, totalling 拢7.3m, have been funded to date.

Below are some examples of projects delivered that are already making a big difference:

拢35.5k for Hurst Green community courtyard

Oxted Parish Council, with help from past parish councillors and 妖精动漫lor (Cllr) Cameron McIntosh, has transformed a neglected space in Hurst Green to one of the council's designated key neighbourhoods.

Cllr McIntosh said: “As someone whose family grew up in Hurst Green, I feel a real sense of pride seeing this project come to life. The rebuilt planters have completely transformed the public square, from a tired, fading space into a vibrant, colourful courtyard that residents can enjoy and feel proud of. Over the summer, the new planting brought a burst of colour that people immediately noticed, turning the area into a welcoming focal point.

This project is a true example of what can be achieved when councils, community groups, and volunteers work together. My thanks go to the Parish Council, Tandridge District Council, and the dedicated local gardening group for their hard work and vision. Community spaces matter, they bring people together and make our towns feel alive. Seeing residents stop, admire, and spend time here shows just how much this improvement means. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together for Hurst Green.”

拢13.5k for Amber Foundation new move-on room

The Amber Foundation supports homeless and unemployed young people aged 16 to 30. At Farm Place in Ockley the foundation provides a safe home and a structured programme. Focused on health and wellbeing, education and employability, independent living, and personal development.

Thanks to support from Cllr Hazel Watson and Helyn Clack, the existing move-on room was knocked down and a new cabin was built. The new cabin has wires for laptops to allow young people to job search and prepare for interviews. This new space is helping young people develop confidence and skills for independent living and employment.

Cllr Watson and Councillor Clack said: “Amber is a wonderful charity that does incredible work turning lives around. This new cabin has given staff a dedicated space to work one-to-one with young people as they plan their next steps toward permanent housing and employment.

Last year alone, Amber housed 84 young people, with 80% successfully moving into safe, independent housing. Nearly half secured employment, and 30% achieved major goals like gaining qualifications.”

拢50k for modernisation of the club room at Long Ditton village hall

With the support of Cllr Nick Darby, Long Ditton Village Hall has given its club room a much-needed upgrade to meet growing community demand. The improvements include:

  • modern accessible toilets
  • new suspended ceiling
  • enhanced lighting

This has created a safe, welcoming space for everything from drama and choirs to exercise classes and social clubs. Cllr Darby said: “Community spaces like this are at the heart of local life. I’m delighted we could help make the hall more accessible and inviting for everyone.

With extra space and improved facilities, the hall is already being used to welcome new groups, offering even more opportunities for residents to stay active, healthy, and connected.”

拢8.5k roof replacement for Stanwell scout group

Thanks to the support of Cllr Robert Evans, the Stanwell Scout Hut now has a brand-new flat roof and replacement guttering. This finally puts an end to the persistent leaks and patch repairs. This upgrade ensures the hut remains a safe, welcoming space for children and young people to enjoy scouting activities.

Cllr Evans said: “It’s fantastic to see this valuable community space restored. The scouts do incredible work, and I’m proud we could help keep their home fit for the future."

With the building now fit for purpose, the scout group can continue offering opportunities for young people in and around Stanwell to learn new skills and make friends.
