Scheme overview
The A308 Staines Road West is an important link in the county's road network, connecting the A30 and M25 junction 13 to the M3 and the A316. It is the main road that links Ashford, Heathrow, Staines and Sunbury to one another as well as the wider strategic road network.
Redevelopment through the Staines masterplan will see travel demand along and across the A308 corridor increase in future, as would any eventual expansion of Heathrow Airport. The road is often heavily congested with limited crossing facilities and few places for pedestrians and cyclists to cross safely.
This scheme enables key junctions such as the A308 with School Road and Ashford Road, Chertsey Road and Littleton Road (Black Dog) and Cadbury Road and Windmill Road (The Shears) to be upgraded, including the installation of safer crossing facilities and smart technology to improve traffic flow. The upgrades will help to reduce occurrences of incidents that result in injuries or travel disruptions, as well as improving journey time reliability and air quality.
The A308 could also be improved for journeys on foot, by bike and by bus. As the main route for Spelthorne borough, connecting Ashford, Staines and Sunbury Cross, it has the potential to become an important sustainable travel corridor in 妖精动漫.
The scheme is estimated to cost 拢10 million, with funding provided by Spelthorne Borough Council and 妖精动漫.
