Course intent
This workshop provides practical guidance on creating seasonal spring flower arrangements. Participants will learn about flower selection, colour coordination, arranging techniques, and vase presentation. The session combines demonstration with hands-on practice, enabling you to create arrangements that are both attractive and long-lasting.
What will I learn?
You will learn:
- How to select and prepare fresh spring flowers for arranging
- Techniques for creating balanced and visually appealing arrangements
- How to combine colours, textures, and foliage for impact
- Tips for designing arrangements for different occasions and spaces
- How to care for your arrangements to keep them fresh longer
How to handle and maintain tools to prevent injury in a safe working environment.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
Discover your artistic potential and have fun along the way. SAL workshops are suitable for beginners and those looking to improve their skills. All materials will be provided (unless stated in course description), and you'll leave with your own handmade creations. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You need to bring:
A notebook and pen
Scissors
A bucket for flowers
A plastic sheet or cloth to work on
A small knife
An apron and closed toe shoes
Flowers and foliage
The fee does not cover the cost of materials. A list of materials (including flowers and foliage) will be sent out prior to the start date.

What can I do when I finish the course?
In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto Flower Arranging – Stage 1 or other Arts & Crafts courses at SAL.
