Course intent

Learn how to design and create a beautiful, personal mosaic in this hands-on one-day workshop. Work in a relaxed, friendly environment and develop your creative skills — ideal for beginners or anyone looking to try something new.

What will I learn?

You will learn:

• How to cut and shape ceramic and glass mosaic tiles
• How to select suitable materials for projects
• Grouting techniques
• Understanding the differences between direct and indirect mosaic methods
• Design and create your own individual mosaic project with guidance from the tutor

Discover your artistic potential and have fun along the way. SAL workshops are suitable for beginners and those looking to improve their skills. All materials will be provided (unless stated in course description), and you'll leave with your own handmade creations. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You need to bring:

• A sketchbook
• A Pen
• Apron (or wear old clothes)
• Closed toe shoes
• A packed lunch or refreshments

All tools and equipment will be provided for use in the classroom, including mosaic tile cutters, safety goggles, gloves, adhesive, grout, and a backing board. A selection of tiles will also be supplied.

What can I do when I finish the course?

After discussing with your tutor, you may wish to enrol in Mosaics – Stage 1 or explore other SAL arts and crafts courses or workshops.
