Course intent
Cathedral Windows are one of the best-known folded patchwork techniques. As the fabric is folded and sewn, there are no raw edges or wadding to consider. Completed units can be combined to make cushions, bags or hangings.
You will learn one of the ways of doing Cathedral windows units, and how to sew them together. There will be time to make several units so plan for a wall hanging or cushion.
What will I learn?
You will learn:
Design Techniques: You will explore how to combine colours and use Cathedral Window units to make a bigger whole.
Material Knowledge: Gain insights into different materials used. Understanding different materials will allow you to make informed choices that suit your designs
Craftsmanship: Develop your understanding of the tools and techniques required. This workshop will help you perfect your skills while learning this new technique.
Production Process: Understand the process of turning a basic unit of design into a physical object, including cutting, sewing, and finishing techniques
Workshop Practice: Understand the importance of a safe working environment and H&S requirements.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
Discover your artistic potential and have fun along the way. SAL workshops are suitable for beginners and those looking to improve their skills. All materials will be provided (unless stated in course description), and you'll leave with your own handmade creations. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!
Basic sewing skills will be useful.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You need to bring:

thread – both piecing threads and any embroidery threads you wish to use
