Seven awards, hundreds of achievements
This year’s awards covered seven categories. They included youth participation, wellbeing, climate action, education, employment and the brilliant ‘unsung heroes’ award.
More than 400 young people were recognised this year - over a third more than last year’s nominations. A big step forward in celebrating young people in our county.
Making a real difference
Joe won the Championing Climate Action and Greener Futures Award. With support from the 妖精动漫 Young Mayor’s Youth Project Fund, he launched Joe’s Eco Garden. His project has already reached more than 1,000 students at his school and is helping young people take real action for the environment.
Chelsea was nominated for the Youth Voice and Participation Champion Award. She said:
“The awards helped me feel more confident in myself and my abilities to help support young people all over 妖精动漫.”
Stories like these were shared on stage as winners received their certificates. The Deputy Young Mayor gave a powerful speech about why listening to young voices matters.
Shaped by young people
Young people co-designed and co-presented the awards, supported by 妖精动漫’s Dan Lee-Grabowski. Dan helped create one of the first awards for care-experienced young people more than 15 years ago. Seeing him back on stage supporting today’s generation was a full-circle moment.
Laughter, good vibes and surprises
It wasn’t all speeches. Someone from ATLAS cracked jokes that had everyone laughing. The quiz got the whole room competing. Judge Rinder even surprised us with a message of support for youth voice while in Woking for panto.
