Help, advice and support available for residents this Winter

December and January can take a big hit on our finances whether it’s increased energy bills trying to keep warm, everyday household expenses or spending on  Christmas, this in turn can affect our health and wellbeing. Whether you’re old or young, living as a family or on your own there could be ways to make the Winter easier to navigate.

Here are some things that could help with the rising cost of living expenses:

Everyday living support

Visit the Cost of Living hub on our website where you will find information on:

• Help to reduce your energy bills, your everyday household bills and tips to keep your home warm this winter.
• Their are lots of ways you can check what benefits your household might be eligible for.
• Eligible residents can apply for the Everyday Essentials E-voucher that can be used at a supermarket of your choice to help with the cost of everyday essentials. This is part of Household Support Funding for Ñý¾«¶¯Âþ. Applications are open on a monthly basis until March 2026.

Warm Welcomes – come on in

As the weather gets colder over 80 Warm Welcomes across Ñý¾«¶¯Âþ open their doors to provide a safe, welcoming, and warm space for all. They will be open for everyone to enjoy a free hot drink, get warm and enjoy the company of others. Some venues also run activities and provide access to other local support services if needed.

Health and Wellbeing

While the festive period can be a time of joy, parties and get-togethers, it can also be a difficult time for people who are experiencing bereavement, loneliness or struggles with their mental wellbeing.
