妖精动漫 Youth Arts and Culture Festival Programme

  • When: Saturday 8 November, 11am to 3pm
  • Where: Staines Library Hub in Staines-Upon-Thames and the Spelthorne Jobs and Skills Hub.

The festival offers free workshops and shows for young people aged 11 to 18. These cover many fun and creative activities! The festival helps young people get involved in the arts. It also shows the great ways to learn and grow creative skills in 妖精动漫.

Juggling and Object Manipulation Workshop with Circle of Two

Time: 11:00-12:00

Join Circle of Two for an amazing workshop where you can dive into the art of movement and discover the magic of juggling with all sorts of cool equipment and objects!

Come and Try with 妖精动漫 Arts

Time: 12:00-15:00

Come and try playing a new instrument with 妖精动漫 Arts teachers. Drop in at any time between 12pm and 3pm to have a go.

Ukrainian Guitar Group Performance, 妖精动漫 Arts Inclusion Team

妖精动漫 Arts is proud to support many young people throughout the county in accessing musical education and opportunities. Through funding from the 妖精动漫s for Ukraine scheme, the Inclusion Team have been able to support students in local Ukrainian Hubs to learn instruments. Led by their Ukrainian tutor Denys Bilodid, we present some of our wonderful students in a short musical performance today

妖精动漫 Arts Senior String Orchestra Performance

Location: Performance Area, Staines Library Hub

North 妖精动漫 String Orchestras bring together young string players from Staines and the surrounding areas to make music, build skills, and enjoy playing together. Led by friendly and experienced tutors from 妖精动漫 Arts, the groups explore a wide range of music and perform regularly in concerts. It’s a great way for players to learn as a team, support each other, and make new friends.

In this performance, our Senior String Orchestra, comprising of Grade 4+ players, will be playing a selection from Fiddler on the Roof by Sheldon Harnick and Jerry Bock, arranged by Herbert Baumel, and Struttin’ by John Caponegro, performed by Strings A. Led by Amanda Stratton and supported by Sian Barnes.

Acting Through Song with the British Theatre Academy

The British Theatre Academy is an award winning Musical Theatre Program for young people. Their professional training has garnered many successes with performers currently appearing in Matilda, Les Mis茅rables, Wicked, Eastenders, Wicked-For Good, Moulin Rouge, Mamma Mia, & Hamilton. Join BTA for an ‘Acting Through Song’ workshop.

Sound Labs with 妖精动漫 Arts

Time: 11:00-12:00, 12:30-13:30, 14:00-15:00

Get ready to dive into the world of music production in our hands-on, interactive workshop, where you’ll explore the creative possibilities of Ableton Live and Ableton Push - the industry standard tools used by producers and artists worldwide. Guided by our experienced tutors, you’ll learn how to record sounds and create beats in a relaxed setting, gaining practical skills that can spark your own musical ideas. Perfect for anyone curious about music technology, this session is all about creativity, collaboration and having fun with sound.

Kathak Indian Dance Performance and Workshop

Kathak is one of the eight classical dance forms of India, known for its graceful movements, intricate footwork, rhythmic patterns, and storytelling. In this activity, participants will first experience a short stage performance showcasing traditional Kathak repertoire, followed by an engaging workshop where they will learn basic footwork (tatkaar), hand gestures (mudras), rhythm exercises, and simple expressive movements. The session aims to give young people an introduction to Kathak’s blend of rhythm, movement, and storytelling.

Coding Games Workshop with Chaos Created

Time: 11:00-12:10, 12:40-13:50, 14:20-15:10

Led by a real-world app and game developer, this Coding Games Workshop teaches coding fundamentals with a very practical workshop, designed for beginners with no previous coding experience required. Get hands-on and create an arcade-style game, complete with your own pixel-art graphics, which you'll be able to play and develop further from home and share with your family and friends. During this workshop, we'll be developing an arcade-style space-shooter, complete with basic gaming physics, a score and health system, and creating some fun enemies and power-ups in the process.

Micro-Museum with Amy Stone in Collaboration with Spelthorne Museum

What does it take to put together a museum? How do curators choose which objects to include? How do you tell stories in an accessible and interesting way?

Participants in this workshop will explore the different techniques used in creating museum displays and have a chance to make their own micro-museum.

SG Troop Performance and Inclusive Dance Workshop with Stopgap Dance Company

Dreamscape explores the shifting terrain between reality and imagination. Explore a place where dreams go beyond everyday life and invite you to explore new versions of yourself. Here, logic bends, deserts sink beneath oceans, and the unexpected becomes exciting rather than scary. In this place, where nothing quite makes sense, you’re free to be bold, colourful, and curious. Sometimes, in the middle of all this chaos, the puzzle pieces fall into place.

Afterward, join Stopgap Dance Company for a fun, interactive and creative movement workshop, exploring our inclusive dance practice.

Live Scribing with Annalees Lim

Drop in by Annalees to check out her observational drawings of the festival, capturing the atmosphere and people’s feedback. Learn how arts can be used to tell a story of a day.

DJ Workshops with Moyma

Time: All Day

Location: Elmsleigh Centre

Get hands-on with vinyl in this interactive session DJ session and try scratching and mixing on vinyl. This drop-in session is headphone-only, with two participants at a time. Perfect for beginners. No prior experience required.

The Film Festival, Spelthorne Jobs and Skills Hub

Filming in Macro - Return of the Snails with National Film and Television School

Time: 11:00-13:00

Location: Spelthorne Jobs and Skills Hub

Macro-cinematography invites us into a whole new miniature world - one that exists right under our noses. In this workshop, students will explore the macro world and learn how to build sequences in natural history film.


Attendees will work in groups to create a short, one-minute film centred around a large (macro) character, a snail, in its small environment. They will plan their story by creating a simple storyboard of 4–5 shots, then build their sets and shoot their film. Once filming is complete, attendees will add voice-over or sound effects. Their films will be edited into a timeline and screened for the group to enjoy together. Copies of the film will be available to take away.

Hear about the role psychologists like Dr Howard Fine, founder of Mindzone Media play in reality television. During this discussion Dr Fine will be interviewed about his career path and journey into this unusual line of work, with maybe a sprinkling of behind-the-scenes gossip.

Early Careers in Film Panel

Led by Dan Burton from Pinewood and Shepperton Studios; a costumier, sound engineer, producer and visual effects artist, all just a few roles into working in the film and television industry will talk about their education choices and how they got their break-through jobs – this will be genuine advice from young people just a few steps ahead of you.

Film Festival Competition Entry Screenings and Awards Ceremony

Time: All-day drop-in, Ceremony will start at 4pm

On screens throughout the film festival and the library we’ll be showing the entries to the film competition. These short films have been made by young people with a connection to the borough of Spelthorne and judged by local industry professionals. Come and vote for your favourite!

Missing 10 Hours is a narrative-driven interactive VR experience where the viewer plays the role of a bystander in a party scenario, with the power to intervene in a developing situation where a woman is drugged by a man, and their choices influence the outcome of the story. The experience explores the Bystander Effect with the goal of encouraging empathy and action to prevent harm.


This has a minimum viewing age of 16. There will be a member of staff available at all times and sign posting to mental health charities will be on display.

Design a Film Poster

Introduction to Stage Combat with Yvonne Arnaud Theatre

Time: 1:30pm-3:30pm

A fast, physical and fun workshop offering a practical introduction to the art of stage combat from the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. Practice a range of basic stage combat techniques and learn how to portray stage fighting effectively with correct actions and reactions. Working with a professional fight director and stunt coordinator you will explore the principles of stage combat including angles, staging and misdirection and learn how to work safely as a team with your opponent.
