Temporary changes to bus services for road closures

Temporary changes or road closure information that may affect your journey by bus will be listed below when details are available. This information is supplied in good faith and is accurate at the time of publishing. Passengers should be aware that changes in road closure schedules can affect the start and length of works and checks should be made with the bus operator before travelling.

Farnham Town Centre Improvement Works

From Monday 18 August, as part of the Farnham town centre improvement works, Downing Street in Farnham will be closed until 1 November 2025. In addition, the bus stop at The Borough will not be accessible and will be temporarily moved to outside Jack and Alice on The Borough. Bus services will be diverted as below:

  • Stagecoach 4 - Will continue to divert via the A31 and West Street. The alternative bus stop to The Borough is on Castle Street. There are also minor changes to the timetable.
  • Stagecoach 5 – Will continue to divert via the A31 and West Street. The alternative bus stop to the Borough is the temporary bus stop outside Jack and Alice. There are also minor changes to the timetable.
  • Stagecoach 16/18/19 - Towards Aldershot, the bus will divert via the A31 and West Street and will not be able to serve Union Road. The alternative bus stop to the Borough and Union Road is the temporary bus stop outside Jack and Alice. The rest of the timetable is unchanged.
  • Stagecoach 46 – The service will divert via Farnham Railway Station to enter Farnham via South Street, and will then terminate on Union Road. The return journey will continue to leave Union Road via Long Bridge and Firgrove Hill. There are also minor changes to the timetable.
  • Stagecoach 65 – Towards Alton, the bus will divert via South Street and the A31 and will not be able to serve bus stops on West Street named Downing Street, Mead Lane, The Chantrys and Coxbridge Farm. The rest of the timetable, and buses towards Guildford are unchanged.
  • Stagecoach 404 – The 0751 journey from Farnham Hospital will leave five minutes earlier and will divert via the A31 and West Street. The alternative bus stop to the Borough and Union Road is on Castle Street.

From Saturday 1 November, Downing Street in Farnham will reopen and the bus routes are being revised now that they can regain access. The temporary bus stop outside Jack and Alice will be moved back to outside the Queens Head on The Borough. After this, the next phase of works are expected to start in January 2026 and this page will be updated when further information is available.

  • Stagecoach 4 - Will continue to divert via the A31 and West Street. There are no changes to the timetable.
  • Stagecoach 5 – Will continue to divert via the A31 and West Street. There are no changes to the timetable.
  • Stagecoach 16/18/19 - Towards Aldershot, the buses will revert to using Union Road and Downing Street instead of the A31 and West Street. There are no changes to the timetable.
  • Stagecoach 46 – The service will continue to divert via Farnham Railway Station to enter Farnham via South Street, and will then terminate on Union Road. The return journey will continue to leave Union Road via Long Bridge and Firgrove Hill. There are no changes to the timetable.
  • Stagecoach 65 – Towards Alton, the bus will revert to using Union Road and Downing Street. There are no changes to the timetable.
  • Stagecoach 404 – The 0751 journey from Farnham Hospital will continue to leave five minutes earlier to allow for extra traffic in the area, and will revert to using Union Road and Downing Street.

The next phase of works are expected to start in January 2026 and this page will be updated when further information is available.

Critchmere Lane, Haslemere

From Monday 27 October, Critchmere Hill in Haslemere will be closed for 1 week due to electrical works.

The Stagecoach service 71 will be on diversion via Woolmer Hill Road and Hindhead Road missing out Critchmere Road. Therefore bus stops along Critchmere Road will not be served for the duration of the closure.

Little Green Lane, Chertsey

From Monday 27 October, Little Green Lane in Chertsey will be closed for approximately 5 days  due to works by UK Power Networks.

While the road is closed Falcon service 557 will divert via Green Lane in both directions, and will not be able to serve stops at Lyndhurst way, Ferndale Avenue and Inglewood.

Church Hill, Haslemere

From Monday 27 October, Church Hill in Haslemere will be closed until 31 October due to electrical works.

As a result the Stagecoach 19 service will not be able to serve bus stops on the High Lane Estate as the diversion route is not suitable for buses. Instead they will be providing a shuttle service to and from Haslemere so that passengers still have a service. They will also not be able to serve the bus stops on Church Lane outside Haslemere Community Hospital during the closure. The timetable for the shuttle will be posted at bus stops, and the timetable and further information on the closure can be found on .

Nursery Road, Sunbury on Thames

From Sunday 26 October, Nursery Road in Sunbury on Thames will be closed at the junction of Green Street due to works taking place on the traffic signals. The closure is expected to last until 31 October.

Falcon service 557 will divert via Windmill Road and Brooklands Close to reach Sunbury Tesco. The bus stops at Peregrine Road, Ravens Court, St Ignatius Church, Green Street, Sunbury Cross Shopping Centre and Spelthorne Grove will not be served.

Green Lane, Sunbury on Thames

From Saturday 25 October, Green Lane in Sunbury on Thames will be closed between the hours of 7am and 5pm for 8 days due to electrical works.

Reptons service 572 will divert via Vicarage Road and will not be able to servce Burgoyne Road or Green Lane.

High Street, Weybridge

From Thursday 23 October, there are a series of works taking place on Weybridge High Street for highway repair and maintenance works.  These works are expected to finish on 5 December.

On 23 October and 24 October between the hours of 8pm until 6am, the A317 will be closed and the bus stops at the Ship Hotel and Weybridge Library will be suspended.

  • Falcon service 436 from Woking will divert to and from Weybridge Station via Heath Road and Balfour Road to turn around. Passengers are advised to use the bus stop named The Quadrant on Heath Road.
  • Falcon service 461 from Kingston will divert from Oatlands Drive, Hanger Hill, Heath Road and Balfour Road. It will do the same in reverse. Passengers are advised to use stops in Heath Road or Balfour Road.

From 27 October until 6 November, The Ship Hotel bus stop will be suspended in the westbound direction.

  • Falcon service 436 (which normally terminates at The Ship) will operate in a clockwise direction from Weybridge Station via Heath Road to terminate opposite Weybridge Library. It will then proceed down the High Street serving the Ship, Monument Hill, Hanger Hill, Brooklands Road back to its normal line of route.
  • Falcon services 461 and 515, and Chatterbus services C1 and C2 passengers are advised to use the next stop at Weybridge Library.

From 17 November until 3 December, The Ship Hotel bus stop will be suspended in the eastbound direction.

  • For Falcon services 461 and 515 passengers are advised to use the previous bus stop opposite Weybridge Library.

On 4 December and 5 December between the hours of 8pm until 6am, the A317 will be closed and the bus stops at the Ship Hotel and Weybridge Road will be suspended.

  • Falcon service 436 from Woking will divert to and from Weybridge Station via Heath Road and Balfour Road to turn around. Passengers are advised to use the bus stop named The Quadrant on Heath Road.
  • Falcon service 461 from Kingston will divert from Oatlands Drive, Hanger Hill, Heath Road and Balfour Road. It will do the same in reverse. Passengers are advised to use stops in Heath Road or Balfour Road.

Little Green Lane, Farnham

From 22 October, Little Green Lane in Farnham will be closed between the hours of 9.30am  to 2.30pm until 24 October.  From 27 October until 31 October, the road will be closed between the hours of 8am to 5pm.

Stagecoach service 16 will divert via School Hill to Greenfield Road. The bus will do the same in reverse.  It will not be able to serve  stops on Little Green Lane or Shortheath Road.

Godalming Road, Hascombe

From 21 October, Godalming Road in Hascombe is closed due to emergency water works. The works are expected to last until 23 October.

Compass service 42 from Cranleigh will divert after Dunsfold via the A281 to Peasmarsh and then back to Godalming town centre to revert to its normal route. It will do the same in reverse. It will not be able to serve Loxhill, Hascombe, Busbridge and Godalming College.

Malmstone Avenue, Merstham

From  Tuesday 21 October for 1 week Malmstone Avenue will be closed due to emergency water works.

Metrobus services 430 and 435 will do a smaller loop via Nutfield Road and Albury Road which means the bus stops on Manor Road, Bletchingley Road, Portland Drive and Malmstone Avenue will not be served. Passengers are advised to use Albury Road while the road is closed.

Approach Road/Ray Road, West Molesey

From Monday 20 October, Approach Road in West Molesey will be closed from 8am to 5pm on weekdays, and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays until 3 November for gas works.

Following that, Ray Road will be closed from 3 November until 21 November between the hours of 8am to 5pm weekdays and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays. Approach Road and Ray Road will not be closed at the same time.

While the roads are closed, Falcon services 514 and 814 will be diverted from the High Street to Priory Lane and Beauchamp Road where they will resume the normal line of route. The buses will do the same in reverse. Bus stops at High Street, Island Farm Road and Ray Road will not be served.

High View, Gomshall

From Monday 20 October, High View in Gomshall will be closed between the hours of 8am to 6pm until Friday 24 October for electrical works.

Compass service 25 will divert via Queens Street in both directions and will stop and pick up passengers on the corner of Queens Street nearest the Esso garage.

Dawney Hill, Pirbright

Due to major works by 妖精动漫 Highways, Dawney Hill, Pirbright (between the junctions of Gole Road and School Lane) will be closed from Monday 13 October for approximately 5 months. Due to this closure, the following bus services will be on diversion: Falcon 28 and 690, and Stagecoach 28 and 91.

Whilst works take place, the Falcon 28 service and the Stagecoach 28 and 91 services will still serve bus stops along Connaught Road between Bagshot Road and Brookwood Railway Station, but will be unable to serve the following bus stops in the Pirbright/Brookwood area: Church Close, Railway Arch, Caterham Close, Brookwood Memorial and School Lane.

The Falcon 690 service will still serve all bus stops along Connaught Road and in Pirbright Camp, but will double-run Connaught Road to use Cemetery Pales as their diversion route. As a result the following bus stops will not be served: Caterham Close, Brookwood Memorial and School Lane.

Passengers should be aware that, due to these diversions, services may suffer delays at peak hours.

Ember Lane, Esher

Due to emergency water works by Thames Water, Ember Lane, Esher (near the junction with Embercourt Road) will be closed from Wednesday 8 October for approximately 3 weeks. As a result the Falcon 515 and 814 services will be on diversion via Elm Tree Avenue, and the bus stops known as "Ember Gardens" and "Imber Court" will not be served, as well as the northbound (towards Surbiton & Kingston) bus stop known as "Elm Tree Avenue".

Staines Road, Laleham

On Wednesday 1 October, Staines Road in Laleham will be closed for resurfacing works between the hours of 8pm and 6am for 3 weeks . The closure is between the junctions of Wrabness Way to The Broadway. The works will only take place on weekdays and the road will be open at all other times.

White Bus service 458 towards Staines will divert via The Broadway, Ashford Road, Kingston Road, High Street and South Street to rejoin the normal route.

White Bus service 458 towards Kingston will divert via South Street, Laleham Road, Worple Road, Kingston Road, Ashford Road, The Broadway and Shepperton Road to rejoin the normal route.

Petworth Road, Haslemere

From Monday 22 September, Petworth Road in Haslemere will be closed for up to 6 weeks from near the junction of Blackdown Lane to the junction with Haste Hill due to drainage and flood improvement works.

As a result the Stagecoach 71 service will be on diversion, and bus stops between Chiddingfold and Haslemere cannot be served.

From Monday 29 September (for up to 5 weeks) the Stagecoach 71 service will operate to a new, temporary timetable Timetables will also be updated at bus stops, explaining the changes in detail.

As a result of this new timetable there will be no 71 service between Haslemere and Woolmer Hill Estate (with the exception of the school time 71 journeys). Instead, there will be a free shuttle bus service available to residents, Monday to Saturday, that will run hourly between Woolmer Hill Estate, Shottermill, Haslemere Railway Station and Halsemere Town Centre. The details of this free shuttle bus service will likewise be available on the Stagecoach website (see above), and on the temporary timetables posted at bus stops.

Quartermile Road, Godalming

From Monday 22 September, Quartermile Road in Godalming will be closed for gas works. The works are expected to last until 24 October.

Compass services 42 and 45 will divert via Busbridge Lane and Park Road,  and will not be able to serve stops on Quartermile Road and  Tuesley Lane.

Send Marsh Road, Send

From Monday 1 September, Send Marsh Road in Send will be closed until approximately 19 December due to gas works.

White Bus services 462 and 463 will divert via Send Barns Lane and Portsmouth Road in both directions. The bus stops at Old Hall, Send Marsh Green, Tuckey Grove and Send Marsh Road (on Send Marsh Road) will not be served.

A3 Portsmouth road closures

National Highways are carrying out major safety improvement works to the A3 Wisley Interchange (M25 Junction 10). As a result there will be a series of weekend road closures at this location. This page will be updated when the next works are announced.

When closures are in place, the Falcon 715 service may only operate between Kingston and Cobham. The White Bus 462/463 service may not operate between Send Marsh Road and Ockham Roundabout, with bus stops in Ripley not being served.

As the nature of the closures may change as works progress, and different diversions may be necessary, we would advise passengers wishing to travel on these services to check the and websites for further updates before travelling.

A320 Guildford Road, Chertsey

As part of the A320 North of Woking Improvements Scheme there are road works taking place on the A320 Guildford Road that will affect bus services. There will be a series of evening and weekend closures by St Peter's Hospital and this page will be updated when further works are announced.

The next set of works are due to take place from 8pm on Friday 24 October to 5am Monday 27 October. The road will be closed between Ottershaw roundabout and St Peter's roundabout in both directions.

While the road is closed, White Bus service 446 and Falcon service 461 will be diverting via Foxhill Road, Stonehill Road and Holloway Hill and will be using the hospital entrance on Holloway Hill to serve the St Peter's Hospital bus stop.

High Street, Godstone

Due to a major sinkhole appearing in the carriageway, High Street, Godstone (between the junctions with A25 Oxted Road and Salisbury Road) has been closed from 18 February until further notice. Reports indicate the road will most likely remain closed for several months.

As a result of this closure the Metrobus 400, 409 and 410 services are on diversion and cannot use Godstone High Street. Passengers are advised to catch their bus from the "Godstone Green" bus stop (near the Needle's Bank public toilets) instead. In addition the 410 service will also be unable to serve the "Crowhurst Mead" or "Church Lane" bus stops on the A25 Oxted Road.

With regards to school services, the Metrobus 612 service for Oxted School will also be on diversion, and will be unable to serve the "Crowhurst Mead" or "Church Lane" bus stops on A25 Oxted Road. Passengers for this service should either catch the bus from the "Godstone Green" bus stop (near the Needle's Bank public toilets) or can alternatively catch the Metrobus 611 service to Oxted School from the "Crowhurst Mead" and "Church Lane" bus stops on A25 Oxted Road. Passengers should bear in mind that this service operates slightly earlier than the Metrobus 612 service, arriving at the "Crowhurst Mead" bus stop at 07:59, to arrive at Oxted School for 08:14.

Metrobus service 430 and 435

From 29 October 2022, Metrobus services 430 and 435 will not serve Royal Earlswood Park, Prince's Road and Earlsbrook Road due to operational issues until further notice. Bus stops along Woodlands Road will still be served as normal.
