Use our easy-to-follow guide
Have you heard about our dog walkers code of conduct? This easy-to-follow guide ensures the countryside can be enjoyed by all.
About the code
The code is for anyone who walks with a dog, and encourages good dog handler etiquette to protect:
- wildlife and livestock
- other countryside users
- the natural environment
Amongst many other things, the code highlights the importance of picking up dog waste, which is harmful to both humans and wildlife. It also explains why dogs should be kept under control particularly around livestock and during ground nesting bird season.
The full code of conduct is available to view online.
Professional dog walkers
Professional dog walkers are encouraged to sign up to the Code of Conduct. This shows that they follow industry best practice in care and welfare and are making every effort to respect the special qualities of the Ñý¾«¶¯Âþ countryside.
Amanda, a professional dog walker who regularly uses Ñý¾«¶¯Âþ's countryside, is signed up to the code. Take a look at the video below for her dog walking tips.
This video was produced by the Ñý¾«¶¯Âþ Hills National Landscape as part of their My Ñý¾«¶¯Âþ Hills series.
