Shakespeare comes to life at Ñý¾«¶¯Âþ Libraries

This October half term, we are thrilled to team up with the award-winning Guildford Shakespeare Company to bring two unforgettable productions right to your doorstep: the gripping tragedy of Macbeth and the heart-wrenching romance of Romeo and Juliet.

Aimed at ages 12+, these dynamic performances are a golden opportunity for GCSE and A-Level students to dive deeper into the plays in a fresh, powerful, and accessible way.

Macbeth

“What’s done cannot be undone”

On the eve of victory, an heroic general is promised a glorious future by three mysterious apparitions… but real or not, Macbeth’s ruthless ambition, fuelled by his wife’s chilling thirst for power, begins a chain of events that will destroy everyone that stands in their way.

This specially adapted touring production is designed for community spaces like Guildford Library, making world-class theatre more accessible than ever.

Tickets are available with a donation.

Romeo and Juliet

Woking Library on Thursday 30 October at 3.30pm.

“These violent delights have violent ends”.

Sparring households. Star-crossed lovers. Tragic misadventures. When Romeo Montague meets Juliet Capulet, life as they know it is thrown into chaos. As they navigate battles, banishments, masquerade balls and secret marriages, they are forced to put their relationship to the ultimate test, and discover whether love truly conquers all…

A scorching summer. Two ferocious families clash, again.

…from the bloodshed two young people fall in love, but is their fate already written in the stars?

Join the award-winning Guildford Shakespeare Company and Orange Tree Theatre for an urgent retelling of Romeo and Juliet; set in a Verona full of mafia underground dealings and high fashion parties.

Tickets are available with a donation.

Second Hand Dance presents The Sticky Dance for Libraries

We are very thrilled to offer the chance for families to experience The Sticky Dance at several libraries across Ñý¾«¶¯Âþ this coming November.

You will get to watch two dancers' shimmy through audiences weaving a tapestry of sticky tape in this tactile dance performance for young children. They will invite you to tape, stick and groove, to see and feel sound or to be still, watch and listen. Audiences will be encouraged to explore freely, turn the rules upside down and create their own experience.

The Sticky Dance is an interactive, engaging and colourful performance installation for children and their families. We offer a welcoming, inclusive space where free exploration is encouraged through moving, watching, listening, dancing and making noise.

The age guidance: 3 to 5 years with parent/carer. Babes in arms are welcome.

The Sticky Dance is co-created by Rosie Heafford and Takeshi Matsumoto. Co-commissioned by The Southbank Centre and The Place, and South East Dance.
